A Comparative Review of Vivo V3 and Vivo V3 Max
Vivo V3 and V3 Max is firstly placed at a very competitive prices of Rs. 17980/- and Rs. 23980/-. The respective company claims that its new Smartphone includes high end specs at a relatively low price range. Both the smartphones are identical physically, apart from the different screen sizes. The front display is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass and capacitive buttons at the bottom. The devices are featured by aluminum metal bodies, which are treated with zircon sand coating and anodized to create the smooth finish.
The device is finely executed with rose gold finish and curved edges. At the back, there is a fingerprint scanner towards the middle along with a primary camera at the top left corner. The metal bodies are relatively light to hold. The curved edges make it easy for a good grip in one’s hand.
The Vivo V3 exhibits a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, while the V3 Max exhibits a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display. Along with both displays performed well indoors with good color reproduction, viewing angles are also present. Both screens are very reflective and the visibility under direct sunlight is a bit affected.
V3 on the other hand includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor combined with 3GB of RAM, while the V3 Max includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor combined with 4GB of RAM. The switching between different apps is smooth as well.
The two smartphones run on Android Lollipop-based Funtouch OS 2.5. It too comes with the split-screen mode, which as the name suggests. It lets you use two apps simultaneously side-by-side. The feature was tried, and it seemed to work smoothly. On the storage front, both devices come with 32GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a micro SD card.
Now let us come to the fingerprint scanner. The scanner is swift enough to unlock the device in just 0.5 seconds, if the screen is off or 0.2 seconds when you are on the lock screen. In order to get advantage of the fingerprint scanner facility, one has to register and scan one’s finger prints, which is also a very easy process.
If we focus on the photography features, then we can conclude that both the devices have excellent combination of 13 megapixels rear camera and 8 megapixels selfie camera or front camera. It takes less than a second to take a perfect click. The focusing on subject takes place in just 0.2 seconds with the inclusion of PDAF. V3 Max on the other hand features with Ultra HD mode which naturally enhances the quality of the photo.
Vivo claims that the batteries are capable to last for an entire day. The V3 comes with 2550 mAh battery, while V3 Max comes with 3000 mAh. The smartphones also support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0, which will give you up to two hours of music playback on charging for only five minutes.
The other features includes, a high-quality AK4375 audio chip for both the devices, dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Vivo says that the smartphone’s speakers offer a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 105dB and a distortion rate of -97dB.
According to the review and if compared to the already present smartphones in the market, the Vivo smartphones are slightly overpriced. Moreover as the targeted audience is young generation, and then based on their income level, the price should have ranged from 10,000 to 12,000. But moreover, some of the features like the battery backup and fingerprint scanning mode can step out to be the USP of Vivo and thus attract customers.
